Yesterday 27 October 2016, Dr John Danfulani aka Dr JD presented himself to court based on a notice served to him on 20 October 2016 by the Kaduna State Ministry for Justice. The charges on the notice were based on “inciting Kaduna people” through a 28 December 2015 Facebook update allegedly from him.
This case was struck off by a Kaduna Magistrate Court for lack of merit on 9 August 2016. The charges levelled against him on 20 October 2016 in the court summon are the same allegations that the lower court struck off for lack of merit, but because of the corruption trailing the judicial system the judge refused him bail and proceeded to a seminar which will make her not to hear his case until 7 November 2016. That means Dr. JD will be remanded in prison for 12 days.
Dr. JD is a former lecturer of the department of Political Science, Kaduna State University. He has started having issues with the El-rufai administration for consistently criticising its evil policies.
Dr. JD is one of the people who worked hard to see that El-rufai win the 2015 election in Kaduna State. He put in his time, resources and energy to see that APC take over power from the PDP in Kaduna State. He also delivered his constituency to the APC.
He was arraigned in January 2016 before a Magistrate Court by the State government over the same allegation in which he was arraigned yesterday 27 October, 2016 before the Kaduna State High Court with case number: KDA/KAD/102C/16 before Justice Bilkisu Mohammed. The notice issued to him read thus: “Notice to Prefer a Charge”, signed by Bayero Dari and Abdullahi Isiaka for the ministry of Justice, the state said that the alleged criminal charges against Dr JD falls under section 417 and 418 of the Panel Code Law.
They also said that the alleged Facebook post he updated on 28 December, 2015 can incite and cause hatred between the people of Kaduna State and Nigeria at large where he talked about high rate of out of school children in the north.
Dr JD however pleaded not guilty to all the charges read before him!
