THE UNCOVERED FRAUD IN THE ONGOING PAYMENT AND SCREENING OF RESCUE TEACHERS.
In a bit to boost quality education as promised by His Excellency Arch. Darius Dickson Ishaku, the qualified unemployed youths of the state were employed for a two years contract term with the Taraba State government under the scheme of “Rescue Teachers”
The rescue teachers were sometimes last year interviewed and haven purchased an employment Form from Zenith bank and satisfied all lay down procedures.
The rescue governor in his magnificent and magnanimity ordered the absorption of the qualified interviewed candidates into the teaching service board in November, 2017 but were call to report on January with payment which began in February with series of screenings.
The screenings which is suppose to address some irregularities during the documentation turned out be an avenue for defrauding the young teachers.
A teacher who does not want his name in print for fear of being victimised said, the screening was indeed a money making venture for the panel whose delight is in extorting rescuers of their monthly stipends and meted inhumane treatments on the latest teachers.
He cited an instant where the sum of two thousand was illegally deducted from the stipends of the rescuers outside Jalingo Zone.
“You can’t imagine the fraud going on in the screening where our stipends have been deducted for just no reason, I am left to wonder if the panels were not given allowances for carrying out their duties” he queried.
In a related development some rescuers who were underpaid as a result of wrong placement of qualification, lamented on the poor attitudes of the panel to correct their payment and wonder if it were in a civic service rule to screen a person three times without effecting identified errors.
A member of the panel whose comment was sought for as regards the weighty complains declined because he was not authorised to speak on the matter.
A teacher from an undisclosed school who pleaded anonymous said he has been underpaid despite undergoing series of screening by the panel.
He said” I am a holder of BSc but was erroneously placed as an NCE holder, despite series of screening i am still paid as an NCE holder while others with NCE who were wrongly placed as BSc are paid the prescribe amount of NCE, I wonder if such money will be returned to the government coffer. I’ve complained and the panel shut me down”
The chairman of the panel as complained by the rescuer is said not to be helping matters as he neither listen nor solve any arising complains.
Before press time, the chairman was contacted for comments but was said to be engaged and can not respond.
Another rescuer who sought for the urgent attention of government to call the panel to order and account for why such deduction is made on their stipends.
He further pleaded with the government to make their subsequent payment into their accounts and all irregularities should be corrected.
