Southern Kaduna has always been a victim of injustice in the affairs of the state. It has come to our notice that there is a grand conspiracy to sideline its qualified persons from the race to occupy the about to be vacant position of the registrar of KASU.

The vision of those who created the university was for principal offices i.e Vice Chancellor, Bursar, University Librarian and the Registra to be shared/rotated between the Northern and the Southern part of the state and that has been followed up to the last dispensation.
But as it is, now the former Vice chancellor has been recently replaced with a Prof. from the Nothern part of the state. The university librarian and Bursar as well are persons from the Northern part of the state.

The University Register’s tenure is expiring in March and the body language of KASU’s governing council is showing that they are likely to appoint another person from the northern part of the state to mount that position.
The Chairman governing council/Pro Chancellor, Prof. S.U Abdullahi is a renowned bigot whose major achievement is the Islamization of ABU Zaria when he was Vice chancellor of the school and was also among those who stopped Prof. Andrew Nok from becoming Vice Chancellor of ABU in 2009.

As it is now, the present Registrar should have gone for his terminal leave as part of condition of service just as observed by Prof. Qurix before the appointment of the new Vice Chancellor rather he is still on seat for reasons best known to them.
The southern part of the state have competent hands that can fill in the position of the current Registrar, but we doubt if due process, principles of justice and equity will be followed in the selection process with the current gimmick going on, especially since the current Registrar has not gone on his terminal leave as it is the norm .

We want to bring this issue to the Government of Kaduna state and the general public as well, as we show our discormfort and readiness to challenge this purpoted plan in the event the perpetrators do not backtrack.

3 thought on “Southern Kaduna People Will Challenge Any Bias In The Selection Of Registrar Of The Kaduna State University”
  1. I remembered when all but one director in the Ministry of Education, were from Southern Kaduna. Including the Perm sec. I hv always wondered why this people, who only constitute 30 % of the population, wants to hv everything on equal proportions with the majority. Why must every appointment be politicised?including the academic appointments? In the above article, they even have the temperament to accused the pro chancellor of bias…and even recalled his stewardship as VC ABU,where they alleged that he Islamised the university. Wallahi Northern Muslims are the tolerant set of people In the world. ABU is the ONLY university in Nigeria that has a national outlook. I don’t think a Northern Muslim has ever become a VC or Registrar in the University of Jos….not to talk of places like OAU or NSUKKA

    1. Your comment clearly shows your inability to understand the issues. For a start, how did you arrive at the 30% population ratio? What empirical evidence do you have? That aside, you definitely do not understand why it is called a University. If you do, you’d know why merit, and not base sentiments determine who gets what in a citadel of learning. If the registrar is due to retire, then the right thing must be done. You can’t jettison merit on the altar of tribal or religious consideration.
Going by your warped logic, is there any northerner, an academic that is, who is qualified and vied to be VC in Jos, Nsukka or OAU but was brazenly denied like ABU did to professor Nok? It is called a University because it is a melting point of intellectualism and not a conglomeration of religious or tribal bigots. In other words, you can only choose the head of an Islamic school base on religion but not a University besides, of what use is population with no quality? Any wonder why other parts of Nigeria have all grown and taken firm control of Nigeria’s economy, the north, with your type is lagging behind busy playing the religious card with multitude of almajirai roaming the streets. Grow up.
