In a press conference in Kaduna state, on Friday, Shekarau said, “Dr. Aishatu Maigari was awarded an Icon of interfaith and unity in Gombe state during the northern peace tour because she have proven to be in that category of peace building in a region that is consumed by religious intolerance and segregation.”
“The honourable commissioner is no doubt faithful to her faith and to the Muslim umma. Interestingly, she respects other Faith’s and that is very critical and important in sustaining peace coexistence in Gombe state, northern Nigeria and the country at large.”
“We respect her for her doggedness in actions and in character and respect for other people’s beliefs. This could just be the reason why those who nominated her for the award (Students in Gombe state University) saw her worthy.” Shekarau added;
