Yes, this Direction is definitely new, so new that workers have become beggars, children with living parents are looking like orphans, parents are dying and the world looking all gloomy and hopeless for humans deprived of their rights. The look on the faces of Kogites is that hopelessness and our voices can be liken to a funeral dirge.

I watched the heart-rending sight of genuine Kogi workers owed many months of salaries queueing up to receive two
milk tins of rice and a very lean piece of meat as new year gift from the Government of Kogi state. I saw able bodied men being pushed down while struggling to find a place in line to collect what is less than a 200 naira worth of food for themselves and their families. I watched with consternation the looks of well fed government aides smiling sheepishly as people struggle for free food, looking like Messiahs.
I shake my head and I remember just last January when these same people rolled out the drums to celebrate the emergence of a government that Styled itself as “New Direction”. Yes, this Direction is definitely new, so new that workers have become beggars, children with living parents are looking like orphans, parents are dying and the world looking all gloomy and hopeless for humans deprived of their rights.
The the look on the faces of Kogites is that hopelessness and our voices can be liken to a funeral dirge. The annoying part is that the government of state have decided to either turn a blind eye or deaf ear to the plight of her people, what we hear daily is that “committee will be set up to look into it”.. When will the committee(s) ever resolve
these unending issues.

More heart-rending is the most annoying” anti Digital”aides paraded by this government, most of them have never in their lives worked with or for government, half baked individuals who excel only in praise singing, greedy fellows who have decided to shield the Governor’s eyes to burning issues with their media propaganda stories and white elephant projects.
They feed fat on the proceeds from the state while genuine workers and Kogites wallow in abject poverty. You see a genuine worker with his or her certificates and termed a ghost worker is taking to cemetery, dead due to lack of funds to treat an ailment or to feed (ref: former provost School of Nursing Obangede).
That same moment you will see a governor’s aide with questionable character and portfolio being paid huge sums of
money for doing nothing. You see them organizing birthdays for themselves and families, clubbing and sending their wardson vacations…. This is utterly unfair.
It is bad enough that the Governor have decided to seek the services of non professionals to head most ministries and offices as reward for loyalty, he (the Governor) should at least send these aides on training to teach on the tenets of governance in other to give a face lift to this propaganda government.
The APC led government is running straight into the abyss of failure except it reverses and make a drastic change… This New Direction is becoming too gallop filled and our stomachs are churning. Every four (4)years government tenure in Nigeria is always characterized to have the first two years prove to the people that they are worthy of the mandate given, the third year is for the showcase of stewardship and the fourth year is for campaign and re-election (if found worthy)… Our New Direction government will soon usher in the 2nd year of her mandate, I wonder what they will present as account of stewardship in their 3rd year… Kogites are wiser.
More than anything, I want the administration of GYB to succeed but with this train, I’m sure we are heading for a
derail. I sure won’t vote for a government who refuse to pay pensioners their entitlements for almost a year only to be given two cups of rice. No I won’t…. The earlier this self styled digital government see workers welfare and payment of entitlements as top priority the better….
The government shouldn’t play MMM with our lives, we all know that billions of Naira have been paid to States recently from the “Paris club”, Aregbesola of Osun paid his workers 100%, please Kogi state government should borrow a leaf from this, pay workers, genuine workers are dying… Stop percentage payment, stop playing politics with the lives of your people. Posterity is a good judge.
