The paramount ruler of the Ikulu Nation, His Royal Highness Agwom Ikulu, Yohanna Sidi Kukah, who was abducted in his residence at Anchuna Sarki in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Tuesday January 2, 2018, has been released by his captors.
According to a Facebook posting on Thursday by his younger sibling, Samuel Kukah, “HRH is back. Many thank my very beautiful friends on Facebook. I can’t thank you enough.”
Many were excited for the release of the monarch from his captors. Details of his eventual release by the kidnappers were not known by the time of filing this report. A source privy to the saga confirmed that the paramount ruler was treated nicely and was never in any way harmed.
The National President of the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), Barrister Solomon K. Musa, said the release of the monarch was victory to the entire Southern Kaduna.
“We have not rested on our oars since he was abducted in January 2, 2018. We reached out to security agencies and other military formations to get help on the matter that was becoming a nightmare of a sort. It is quite delightful to be informed that the Agwom Akulu has regained his freedom.
“I am calling on the Kaduna State Government to deploy more security operatives to ensure adequate protection of our monarchs who now have become targets. I am also grateful to the security agencies and other individuals who played relevant roles in ensuring the safe return of the Agwom Akulu,” SOKAPU President told
The abduction of the HRH Kukah came on the heels of the gruesome murder of the Entuma Numana Chief, Dr Gambo Makama, on December 31, 2017 by fierce gunmen who stormed his home in Ara village in Sanga and also killed his pregnant wife before setting his house ablaze.
