ATIKU SUPPORT GROUPS EXTOLS EU, KNOCKS INEC, PRESIDENCY.
The leadership of Coalition of Like-minds Atiku Support Group, (CLMASG), has commended the European Union (EU), on its final report on the 2019 general elections while expressing shock over Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) denial of its own server.
The party made the commendation in a statement issued by its Chairperson, Princess Kemi Adesanya-Eboda, through her spokesperson, Comrade Izuoma Ibe, on Monday in Abuja.
The Chairperson lauded the European Union for its ability and courage to publish dependable facts about the 2019 presidential elections in Nigeria.
She said it is very unpatriotic for INEC to put certain interests above that of the nation as they acted in discordant with the expectation of millions of Nigerians and other opposing political parties in the election by cancelling millions of votes without proper reasons given for such.
“INEC was unpatriotic and unfair. The independence of the electoral umpire should be re-examined by responsible bodies. If you read the EU report on the just concluded presidential election in Nigeria, it stated that over 2 million Nigerians were dis-enfranchised by INEC as it cancelled about 2.8 million votes and gave no concrete reasons for such.
Anyone can trace this to the reason why the electoral body is denying its own server, which from verifiable fact, was used during the election exercise.
We are delighted that the EU came up boldly to make these presentations. This act of independence was expected of INEC but their position is nothing to be extoled by Nigerians in any way.
The Chairperson restated that CLMASG is steadfast in hope that the tribunal will make independent judgment that will gladden Nigerians who are impatient for the government of Atiku Abubakar which they voted massively for.
The EU report has done us a world of good. I know millions of Nigerians feel the same way. Our unwavering hope to get Nigeria working again has gotten a new boost. We are not deterred.
Our prayer is that God in his infinite mercies will direct the activities of the tribunal judges to do the right things at this right times. The evidences are clear and hard to be swept under the carpet.
Looking at the way INEC is now denying its own server is heartbreaking for anyone who loves Nigeria; it is against the image of Nigeria that a body such as INEC and the highest office in Nigeria, the presidency are speaking on the same pitch about the use and non-use of server which was planned for, budgeted for, funded and trained staff and field agents on. This is callous and unnationalistic. We hope that the judiciary will be upright and maintain its integrity as Nigerians look up to that arm of government to restore the electoral mandate given to Atiku to be president of the federal republic of Nigeria 2019-2023.
