2019: NIGERIAN YOUTH PROJECT (NYP) VISITS PDP LEADERSHIP IN KADUNA
Following the election of Alh. Atiku Abubakar and Rt. Hon. Isah Ashiru as Presidential and Gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Victor Mathew Bobai who led a delegation of vibrant Political and Media strategists, under the aegis of Nigerian Youth Project is organizing itself to help re-invigorate the vision of the political system of Nigeria that encourages transparency, good governance and social justice as it affects the Nigerian youth.
The group whose membership model is based on the principle of volunteerism with over a million membership across Nigeria and beyond, recently paid a courtesy visit on the leadership of Kaduna State chapter of the PDP.
The group believes that NYP Leadership is focused on programmes and activities that are geared towards encouraging more Nigerian youths to participate actively in the political process and elect leaders that will wipe away hunger, manage security and provides employment to Nigerian women and youth.
Nigerian Youth Project expressed that the PDP leadership should toy towards the social media direction that will change the current narratives and build confidence in the minds of all Nigerians.
A member of the elders advisory committee of the NYP, a Professor of Psychology, Prof. Mathias Egwuka said, “our major aim is to harness the mental strength of the Nigerian Youth and use it as a weapon of socio-political re-engineering, political engagement and participation.”
He also noted that the Nigerian Youth Project had toured round the country with distinguished Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi while he was seeking the Presidential candidacy of the PDP mostly by roads and had seen the situation Nigerians are passing through under the present administration therefore, would train 1000 Social Media Army per 36 states of the federation including the FCT to help project and showcase the very best of PDP new manifestos as it concerns young people in politics and governance.
Citing the example of two prominent young Nigerians, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, formerly Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development during President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s regime, who due to his performance and the good legacies he achieved was elected as the 8th President of the African Development Bank on Thursday May 28, 2015 and the youngest Speaker of a State House of Assembly in Nigeria, Hon. Inuwa Garba of Gombe State among others. He further said that the PDP, more than any other political party in Nigeria has given more opportunities in politics and public service to young Nigerians, we must return to such era of opportunities.
On their part, the NYP National Director of Budget and Planning Mr. Yomi Laughters and Mal. Ibrahim Khalilu Mohammed NYP Director of Media & Information, observed that “It is a historic opportunity in our party’s history that we are going to volunteer to trained 1000 Social Media Influencers in the 36 states of the federation and to professionally help projects adequately the lies of the change mantra and why PDP MUST RETURN in 2019.
They reiterated and urged the Nigerian Youth to leverage on the good development of the PDP as an opportunity to further participate and engage the political system with truth against the huge lies of the failed APC administration.
The national coordinator Hon. Bobai Victor emphasizes on the great leadership qualities of Sen Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi the Grandpatron of NYP and the 21st Unifier of the modern Nigeria and also a pillar of the New PDP. He appealed that the National leadership of the party to keep seeking the wealth of experience of Sen Makarfi for the 2019 roadmap.
He also, assured the leadership of the party that Sen Makarfi has instructed that “we should work closely with the PDP and harmonized all other groups to push the party ideology and to ensure victory in 2019 general election”
In their response, the Kaduna state PDP Secretary and State Organizing Secretary Alh. Ibrahim Wusono and Jarman Makarfi commended the group for the initiative and assured them that the state Exco’s doors, Kaduna PDP gubernatorial candidate Rt. Hon. Isa Ashiru, the PDP National Exco and the PDP Presidential candidate will always be open to all well-meaning youth associations in Nigeria who genuinely seek to improve the situation of the PDP through political engagement and participation.
They also warned them against sit-down look syndrome and deviation from their core purpose of defending the party’s ideology while the Nigerian people admires the return of PDP to kick hunger out of Nigeria and safeguard the integrity of our nation. While agreeing that there is an urgent need to engage the Nigerian Youth on social media “we must not keep quiet every time our leaders are harassed in the name of searching for incriminating evidence using legions of security agents by ridiculously embarrassing them before the eyes of the world.
